1978 VW Bay WIndow Bus - $25,999 OBO - For Sale - 1978 ORIGINAL VW Bay Window Bus for sale, all original tin and paint with all original interior except for the front seats which have been restored with original vinyl and horsehair stuffing. I would have no issues or second thoughts about driving Meatloaf anywhere as he is a rockstar and an attention getter wherever he rolls. As you can tell from the pictures, the bus has been lowered. The front beam is a WagensWest lowered beam and 3.5" drop spindles, 2000cc engine with 81,800 original miles. Solid engine. Only 3 owners in its history. As the story was told to the current owner, the original owner Mr. Huber purchased the van in 1978 and drove/housed it in the Wrigleyville area. After he passed, his estate stored the bus for 22 years then sold it to Hubert’s barber. The barber worked on and drove the bus for 7 years then sold it to the current owner, the candle guy. The only reason the candle guy is selling the bus is he decided to retire and bought a camper to travel for a while. The candle guy, along with the help from expert Volkswagen restorer Henry @ Henry's Auto in Plainfield, have done a ton of work on Meatloaf over the last 2 years making the 78 VW Bus what it is today - an awesome runner. Some of work done includes; Complete suspension - Complete brakes including new drums, lines rotors, shoes, pads and master cylinder - New Tires - Reinstalled heat, all new cables & pipes including refurbished original 1978 heater boxes - New Clutch. Engine work performed including new Webber manifold / carb and distributor and more, too much to list. The bus was just cleaned and undercoated. All work on this bus was done by Henry's Auto Service in Plainfield, IL, as well as Steward Speed Shop in Steward IL. Paper work of the work completed as well as the original owner’s manual are included. - Dave has decided to retire and travel the country in a new travel trailer and that is the reason he is looking for a new home for his much loved bus.
